An Hour From The Window + Barn Owl!

Date: 5th March 2016
Location: Home Feeders - Birding From The Window
Weather: Cloudy, Overcast - Warm
Other Species: 7 Blue Tit, 3 Great Tit, 3 Goldfinch, 6 Long-Tailed Tit, 4 Chaffinch, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Crow, 4 Wood Pigeon, 1 Magpie, 1 Collared Dove, 1 Coal Tit, 1 Blackbird, 1 Robin, 1 Sparrowhawk - Total Count

Observation: Spent an hour by the window this morning to do quick count of our visiting birds, as always there was plenty of birds feeding on the seed, until the count started!

This very obliging Goldfinch let me get a few pictures.

Even done the classic head tilt pose for me!

Think the rain drops were a bit heavy for this little Coal Tit!

One of the visiting pair today..

A Great Tit also doing the famous head tilt pose !

As I was writing this blog, a Sparrowhawk came and landed in the nearby tree, lovely to see him back again!

Unfortunately, we found a dead female Bullfinch outside after the Sparrowhawk flew through, looks like it flew into the side of a parked van, there is no other sign of injures.

At 6pm, we headed out to investigate some nearby smoke and seen a Barn Owl hunting in front of us, we ran back at speed and grabbed our cameras and headed across the road, he dived a few times but came up with nothing, he'd done one last circle, came within 30 foot of us before flying along the brook into the distant. We have waited 6 years to see a Barn Owl on our patch, we will re-look tomorrow again!

Once again, a huge thank-you to our sponsors Garden Wildlife Direct who provide us with the seed for our patch and feeders, the constant supply of birds proves how high quality the seed is and they have helped us get out Garden List to 35.

Thanks For Looking !
